In preparation for their upcoming show at the 400, David Larabee and Dexter Thornton (a.k.a. furniture design team DoubleButter and Milkweed) have been placing their own furniture around Denver. This guerrilla promotional installation features chairs and benches permanently installed in front of and around various Denver high art institutions. This (I’m assuming illegal act) creates an interesting philosophical question. Is it still graffiti/illegal art if the chairs serve a positive, greater civic good (in this case a place for weary pedestrians to rest)? Head on over to DoubleButter to see a video of the haphazard urban planning in action.
