Spicy’s taking a bit of a trek this weekend, way, way down to that burning river of a city. Hometown for Agent Nate, this will be Agent Drew’s first time visiting Cleveland. While we’ll no doubt be eating like kings (and let’s be honest, when don’t we), the real reason for the journey is Notacon, a conference centered around creativity, technology, and community. Here, Agent Nate will be making his first ever formal presentation – New Media Art: Dropping Humanity in Non-Places.
This is the blurb: “How can art and technology collide to add humanity to a world increasingly filled with non-places? Using his own project, Invisible Narrative, as an introduction, Nate plans on explaining new media art in the context of supermodernity. Citing numerous examples of contemporary artists, Nate will delve into the use of art and technology as a tool for adding life and personality to the otherwise cold and sterile environments inhabited daily by nameless and faceless people.”
So, if you’re in town or at the conference, make sure to stop by for some anthropological enlightenment. For those of you who aren’t there, expect a TED quality speech in podcast form to drop shortly thereafter.
